Side inscriptionA MAN OF KINDNESS TO HIS BEAST IS KIND
BUT BRUTAL ACTIONS SHOW A BRUTAL MIND
REMEMBER HE WHO MADE THEE MADE THE BRUTE
WHO GAVE THEE SPEECH AND REASON FORMED HIM MUTE
HE CAN’T COMPLAIN BUT GOD’S ALL SEEING EYE
BEHOLDS THY CRUELTY AND HEARS HIS CRY

CommentsAlthough the trough is the same size and style as an MDFCTA trough it does not appear anywhere in the MDFCTA records. This is definitely NOT the original MDFCTA trough in Thame Market, which was 6ft 6in with a fountain head.
AcknowledgementsMany thanks to John Blanchard for bringing this trough to my attention and extracting the inscription.
